For Lord Voldemort, the past year has brought more failure than he could possibly have predicted. The Elixir of Life and its promise of immortality were lost to him, snatched from his grasp by the efforts of Albus Dumbledore and his Order of the Phoenix. Gringotts' vault number seven hundred and thirteen now houses the Philosopher's Stone, safely out of reach of the Dark Lord and his followers.
He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, however, has not been kept at bay. His gaze has been set on new conquests, and a rising tide of terror has begun to sweep across the wizarding world. Whether through free will or fear, the ranks of the murderous Death Eaters are swelling further and further, and the grisly gleam of the Dark Mark sparks panic as it reigns over more and more scenes of destruction. Fenrir Greyback and his pack of werewolves serve the Dark Lord's purpose in a feast of fang and flesh, while the strength and power of the Giants has now fallen to his sway. Lord Voldemort has sought out every dark creature imaginable, from vampires and veelas to a particularly irritable manticore, but still he favours his horrific army of Inferi. Few of the soldiers under his control have more loyalty than the dead; inhumanly strong, invincible to nearly every hex and curse, and with no fear or will, they march against all who would defy him. Just one last barrier stands in the way of the undead horde's domination at the hands of their master: fire.
The walking corpses' vulnerability to flame is the only weakness that You-Know-Who's enemies have been able to exploit, leading to certain victories in the rapidly growing war. The Dark Lord has now turned his attention, his brilliance, to this fatal flaw. If he succeeds in removing it, he will have an army of Invincible Inferi, ending the war in sudden, unquestionable darkness.
In strange places, amidst mysterious deaths and brutal violence, Death Eaters sweep through to gather obscure items at their master's command. Whose home will be ransacked next? Whose life cut short?

To the innocent, there appears to be neither rhyme nor reason to this destruction. It falls once again to Albus Dumbledore and the Order of the Phoenix to piece together Lord Voldemort's plans... and time is pressing.
